Home sales in Coos County, Oregon dropped off in 2007 by about 15%.    This seems to follow the National trend. The interest rates are fluctuating between 5.5% and 6.5%.  This offers tremendous opportunities for buyers.  Many sellers are offering to BUYdown the interest rate even further for the purchaser to make their particular propery more saleable.  This can put the purchasers interest rate very near to 5%.  The desirablity of this area for retirement purposes continues to drive the market.

Nationally there is a lot of talk about the many foreclosures on homes.  We haven't seen that in our area and in 2007 there were a total of 47 foreclosures County wide. 

There also seems to be a great deal of interest in the Commercial Sales field.  The Liquid Natural Gas shipping facility on the North Spit of Coos Bay is looking very promising and the Oregon Gateway project is proposing to construct facilities for container shipping into the International Port of Coos Bay. Also test drilling for methane gas south of Coos Bay is proceeding well and they have found gas in marketable quantities.
